Conservation
Although tree works are our main staple, we have the necessary knowledge, expertise and equipment to carry out a range of operations.
In our day to day works wether this be on the highway, a domestic garden or a wildlife site, we look for ways to ensure the conservation of the trees we are working on, the habitat they may provide and the biodiversity of the area wilst maintaining the safety of the public.
As an environmentally aware contractor and one which often works on SSSIs (Site of special scientific interest) we use Bio oils as standard. We continually monitor our envirnmental impact and actively a seek ways of reducing this.
Whilst working for LEE VALLEY REGION PARK AUTHORITY and HERTS AND MIDDLESEX WILDLIFE TRUST we are proud to be associated with the:

- Bittern habitat creation projects
- Habitats for Water Vole
- Reed bed management
- Diversity projects
- Bat roosts
- Bat box installation
- Creation of Kingfisher nesting sites
- Fishing swims
- Natural fish sanctuaries (small fry)
- Otter Holts (land based and floating)
As many of our existing conservation clients have large areas of water and wetlands Principal Trees Ltd have built a modular float system. This system allows us to transport any of our equipment, materials or staff across any river, lake or wetland.
This system has proven to be very useful in a variety of applications, these include;
Removal of arisings from Islands where previously debris has been stacked and prevented vegetation from becoming established.
Providing our staff with a stable work platform where they are cutting back trees from rivers and lakes.
Enabling us to dig down Islands on Lakes so that reed can colonise and provide a habitat for the Bittern.
Creating walk and roadways to allow access and removal of arisings.
